How do I change the language?
Open the app and tap Settings, then select Language.
You'll see a list of all supported languages — tap one to switch instantly.
Vegvísir supports English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, and Icelandic.
Your choice is saved automatically and remembered every time you open the app.
Why am I not seeing certain points of interest?
Points of interest are updated automatically when your device has an internet connection.
If you're riding through an area with limited or no coverage, some places may not show until the
app syncs. Places you have already loaded are cached locally and will still appear even offline.
Try refreshing the list when you regain connectivity.
Does the app work offline?
Partly. Emergency numbers, first-aid guidance and trip logging work with no signal at all,
and recently loaded local information stays available. Maps, nearby searches and weather need a connection.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Vegvísir requires no account, no sign-up, and no login. You install it, open it,
and it works. Your language preference and cached data are stored locally on your device —
not on any server.
Is my location data shared or stored?
Not stored, and shared only to answer a request. To show nearby places and the weather,
Vegvísir sends your coordinates with each search — to our own place-search server, to
OpenStreetMap and to Open-Meteo — and they are used only to answer it. Our server logs
no IP addresses and no positions. Recorded rides stay on your phone unless you share or
back them up yourself. See our

How does the Trip Logger work?
Open the Trip Logger tab and tap the start button to begin recording.
The app tracks your GPS position in the background (even with the screen locked),
displaying a live speed gauge and distance counter. When you stop, the ride is saved
to your device. All ride data stays on your device only — it is never uploaded anywhere.
You can view, share, or delete individual rides from the ride history screen.
Does Vegvísir have any ads or in-app purchases?
No. Vegvísir is completely free, contains no advertisements, and has no in-app
purchases. There are no premium tiers, subscriptions, or hidden costs of any kind.
How do I use the emergency tools?
Tap the SOS / Emergency tab at the bottom of the app. You'll find a
one-tap button to call 112 (the European emergency number), a list of the
nearest hospitals, police stations, fire stations, and pharmacies, a location sharing
tool (SMS or WhatsApp), a torch / flash screen for signaling, and step-by-step
first-aid instructions for motorcycle accidents.
The SOS tab is always accessible, even when the rest of the app is offline.
Can I use Vegvísir without enabling location / GPS?
Yes. Location permission is entirely optional. Without it, the app displays curated
points of interest for the region you have selected in Settings rather than
automatically showing nearby places. All other features — emergency numbers, language
switching, and offline content — work fully without location access.
What is Vegvísir's battery and data usage?
Vegvísir is designed to be lightweight. Apart from recording a ride, it runs nothing in
the background and sends no push notifications, so battery impact is minimal. Data use
is limited to small syncs when new content is available — and none at all when you're
using cached content offline.
A place is missing, or the data is wrong — what can I do?

Which languages does 1001 Excuses support?
The full interface and all excuses are available in English, Norwegian, Icelandic, Danish, and Swedish.
Open Settings in the app and switch instantly — your choice is remembered.
Does 1001 Excuses collect any data?
No. There's no account, no ads, and no analytics or tracking of any kind. The app works
completely offline, and your excuse history is stored only on your device. See the

How do I clear my excuse history?
Open the History screen and tap the clear button. The app asks you to
confirm first, then deletes the history from your device. Nothing is stored anywhere else,
so once it's cleared, it's gone.
Is 1001 Excuses free? Are there ads?
Completely free, with no advertisements and no in-app purchases.
I keep getting the same excuses — what can I do?
Update to version 1.1.0 or later via the Google Play Store. Since that release you never
get the same excuse twice in a row, and every category received hundreds of new excuses
in every language.

Wasn't this app called ReceiptVault?
Yes — Kvitro is ReceiptVault, renamed in August 2026. The name is Nordic:
kvittering (receipt) + ro (calm). Same app, same data, same
one-time purchase — nothing to set up again after the update.
Which languages does Kvitro support?

language, and you can override it any time in the app's Settings.
